Time series of water temperature and salinity in the Barents Sea LME

1. Maps of the vertical distribution of climatic standards of water temperature and salinity

Vertical distributions of temperature and salinity, averaged for the period of 1870-2013 (climatic standards/patterns) have been constructed for the Kola and Medvezhinsky Transects. Their location by the vertical corresponds to standard horizons of 0, 10, 20, 30, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 250, and 300 m. The grid size for the Kola Transect was 0.5°N x 0.5°E. The grid size for Medvezhinsky was 0.25°N x 0.5°E.

Sample charts with climatic standard of water temperature in September 2003 is given for the Kola Transect in Figure 1.

Graphic material is presented in the Maps of the vertical distribution of climatic standards Section.

2. Maps of the vertical distribution of climatic anomalies of water temperature and salinity

To construct time series of water temperature and salinity anomalies, (root-) mean square deviations (σ) of mean values were calculated and set in ratio of σ.

Sample charts of temperature anomaly in September 2003 is given for the Kola Transect in Figure 2.
